I Am: Part 14
What if the very thing you're holding onto is the thing you're destined to lose? And what if surrendering it is the only way to truly gain life?
This Sunday, we explored one of Jesus' most powerful declarations: "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25). Through the story of Lazarus, we discovered that resurrection can't happen without death—not physical death, but death to ourselves. Martha confessed with her mouth but struggled with her actions. Mary fell at Jesus' feet in complete surrender. The difference? One honored God despite unanswered prayers; the other let hurt cloud her faith.
Jesus didn't weep for Lazarus—He wept for people who accepted what they saw as reality instead of believing His proclamation. The stone rolled away when faith moved. The grave clothes fell off when Jesus commanded freedom. What stone is standing between you and your resurrection to newness of life?
If you only believe, you'll see God's glory. Die to self. Surrender completely. That's where true life begins.
