From Beginning to End: Part 5

Mar 15, 2026    Pastor James Bell

Nobody wants to talk about suffering, but what if it's the very thing that draws us closer to God? This week we tackled the uncomfortable truth: God-appointed suffering isn't punishment—it's preparation. It's the refining fire that matures our faith and deepens our intimacy with Christ.

Jesus said it was NECESSARY for Him to suffer. Not optional. Not a recommendation. The same privilege extends to us. When our obedience to God meets resistance from a fallen world, we're not being abandoned—we're being equipped. Romans 5:3 reminds us to rejoice in our trials because they develop endurance, character, and confident hope of salvation.

Here's the truth many miss: you won't have oil on your life if you don't embrace the press. God doesn't promote talent—He promotes trustworthiness proven through faithful suffering. From beginning to end, He's working His masterpiece in you through every trial.

The question isn't whether suffering will come, but how we'll respond when it does. Will we give praise in the midst of pain?
