I Am: Part 5

God wants to deliver you—not just from the penalty of sin, but from the bondage of it. This Sunday, we continued our "I Am" series by discovering that the same blood that frees us from sin's penalty also frees us from sin's power. But here's the truth we often miss: we can't know God as our Deliverer until we make Him LORD of our lives.

The Israelites were freed from Egypt and purchased as God's people, but many never experienced true deliverance because they refused to make Him their God. They wanted the promises without the relationship. They stood at a distance while Moses drew near. Are we doing the same?

Philippians 2:12 tells us to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." The same Greek word means deliverance. It's the love of God that draws us to Him, but it's the fear of God—our reverence—that keeps us close. Don't settle for freedom from Egypt when God wants to bring you all the way to the Promised Land.
